Cinderella Teapot

I love this one. So happy with the carving i did! I free handed the design and made it up too. The handle inspired the carving. I just think its the type of teapot Cinderella would use. It was inspired by her coach that turns from a pumpkin to a beautiful carriage!

Zigzag teapot

This time i created the body and lid in one piece, then cut the lid off. This worked very well. The top was a challenge. It was four different designs before i decided on this one.  Then the knob inspired the zigzag side texture! I live how balanced the handle and spout are! Might even be my favorite spout!

Circle Teapot

This form wont surprise those of you who are familiar with my work. It is just one of my circle vases without the three holes...and, well, a spout and handle.  I love the handle! Ive tried this type before, but was never satisfied.  I also came up with this base idea so that it is extra stable.  The form is thrown horizontal, like a donut.  It is hollow. I throw two walls and connect them at the top, creating a hollow donut.  Then, i stand it up and add the spout, base, lid, and handle. I might have to make more if these! Also, the good thing about this piece is its size. It is 12" around. So, along with the 3" width, it should hold a reasonable amount of tea! Yep...its fully functional!

Ariel's Garden

Pretty pleased with this teapot. It just sort of happened. I had no plan when i started...not feeling too good and wasnt looking forward to this teapot. But, it turned out sweet. I was pulling a handle off the side of the pot and it ripped off, leaving a little stub. So, i looped it into a circle. This inspired the front loop. So i had two loops and it looked really silly...but...wait....haha those loops would make great platforms for an overhead handle! And tada...i just went crazy decorating, adding loops and coils. Then i thought id draw loops on the side, but they looked like sea anemones instead. Haha so, ya i like it because i love anything underwater/mermaid related. Im not going to glaze the whole thing, to emphasize texture! Super duper excited! No to sleep and feel better :)

"Tree-pot"

Yeah! Boom! Very excited about this one! Yeeeaah! I love the handle. I was looking through my newest pottery magazine and loved a few pieces that had super intricate carvings.  Anyways, i got inspired and ran down to my new studio and got started. I threw the pieces and when it was time to assemble i cut some extra clay off a few pieces and gathered them into a long, rough coil.  I loved how this looked and decided to turn it into a handle.  This handle looks like a cool branch and it inspired my leaf carvings. I also love the lid.  It fits great and works well with the form. Yay!

10 min teapot!!!

I was moving this weekend and beginning of the week, and had to leave by thursday for a three day show...soooo this week was a bit rushed.  Moving a ceramic studio is crazy talk. It was heavy to say the least. And im in mid production so i had bone dry pieces all the way to freshly thrown pieces...it was stressful moving everything. So i wanted to make a ten min teapot for this weeks teapot. Heres a video taken by the talented Hannah Thompson (my lil sister). Enjoy!

Duality

Duality: a duel state or quality. This teapot was half made in my old studio and half in my new one! This teapot does have a duel quality in that sense. This weekend was moving weekend and this teapot, with the swirls, explains how ive felt the past two days. :) kinda cool that its the first think made in this studio!

Handbuilt teapot

This teapot was definitely influenced by my students in a hand building class I am teaching. They are not afraid and don't hold back. :) this is why I love teaching!!!
