Mishima

0000,0This is definitely one of my favorites so far. I feel that it has great balance.  Side handles are hard for me. I usually feel that the spout is hard to collaborate with, so I opt for an over the top handle.  But, with this teapot, I feel the side handle works! Yay for more growth!  The spout is also awesome, if I do say so myself! Haha its full. I love how it has body of its own.  I also chose to do a technique I learned at a workshop in Kansas City: Mishima.  Mishima is a Japanese technique (I think) where you use an exacto knife and cut into leather hard clay your desired design, then you fill the cut out part with uderglaze or slip.  Once the clay is on the hard side of leather hard, you use a piece of metal and scrape the design leaving a crisp line of your design. The clay I use has a lot of grog so the little rocks kept dragging across the clay, so that sucks haha, but overall, success! :)
